Alloz Reservoir: nature, sport and adventure on two wheels

The Alloz reservoir is one of those places that has it all: spectacular scenery, turquoise waters, peaceful paths, sports options and much more. Located in the centre of Navarre, very close to Estella-Lizarra, it has become one of our favourite destinations for cycling, swimming, activities and enjoying a different kind of experience.

At Mendi E-bike, we organise guided tours and offer electric bike hire so you can explore this unique environment in comfort and at your own pace. In this article, we tell you everything you can do at Alloz Reservoir, how to get there, which routes we recommend and why it's a great plan for any time of year.

What does the Alloz reservoir in Navarre have to offer?

The Alloz reservoir, also known as the Alloz dam, is located between the towns of Lerate and Ugar, in the Tierra Estella area. It is an artificial reservoir created in the mid-20th century, surrounded by hills, trails and pine forests, making it a perfect place for outdoor activities. In summer, it is a very popular spot due to its calm waters, perfect for swimming, paddle surfing or kayaking. But in reality, any time of year is ideal for enjoying the surroundings by bicycle.

What's more, this corner of Navarre stands out for its tranquillity. Although it is becoming increasingly well known, it retains that peaceful atmosphere that we value so much on our bike rides. There is no traffic, there is shade and there are well-maintained paths. In short: it's perfect.

Our guided route: around the Alloz reservoir

One of our star attractions is the guided electric bike tour around the Alloz reservoir. It is an easy-to-moderate circular route, perfect for families, couples or friends. Along the way, we skirt the reservoir, cross wooded areas and stop at viewpoints with spectacular views.

The best thing about this route is that it combines sport, scenery and relaxation. We also make stops to rest, have a drink and, weather permitting, even go for a swim.
