The source of the Urederra: Navarre's natural gem

The Nacedero de Urederra is one of Navarre's most spectacular natural treasures. Located in the heart of the Urbasa-Andía Natural Park, this spot surprises visitors with its turquoise waters, lush beech forests and surroundings that seem straight out of a fairy tale. Every year, thousands of people visit this corner of Tierra Estella to enjoy one of the most beautiful hiking trails on the peninsula.

The name Urederra means “beautiful water” in Basque, and it is no coincidence: the river begins with a large waterfall that flows from a rocky wall in the Urbasa Mountains, creating an environment of pools and waterfalls that will leave you speechless.

Source of the River Urederra: a natural spectacle

The source of the River Urederra is a waterfall over 100 metres high (not visible from the main visitor route) that leads to a magical journey: pools of impossible colours, lush vegetation and an atmosphere of absolute peace.

The route is ideal for all ages. At around 6 km (round trip), it is well maintained, with hardly any inclines, allowing you to enjoy the surroundings without difficulty. A perfect plan for a family getaway or a day of relaxation in the heart of nature.

How to get to the source of the Urederra

The starting point for the route is the small village of Baquedano, in Tierra Estella. From there, the walk begins. In order to preserve this natural area, access is regulated and requires prior booking, which can be done free of charge online.

It is only a 20-minute drive from Estella-Lizarra and approximately one hour from Pamplona. There is a car park for visitors in Baquedano. It is advisable to arrive early, especially during the high season.

Source of the Urederra route: nature and adventure

The route to the source of the Urederra is much more than just a walk through the woods. It is an immersion in a unique environment, where water and vegetation form a picture-postcard landscape. Each section offers new views, hidden waterfalls and spots to stop and contemplate.

At Mendi E-bike, we encourage you to complement your visit to the Nacedero with an electric bike ride around the surrounding area (you cannot cycle along the Nacedero route itself).
